To start, there are three basic types of accumulators:
1) Bladder
2) Piston
3) Diaphragm
What are Accumulators?
Accumulators are gas charged vessels that can reduce pump capacity, provide auxiliary hydraulic power in case of an emergency, limit pressure fluctuation during temperature changes in a closed loop, compensate for leakage, minimize pump pulsations and acts as a system shock absorber.
When are Accumulators used?
It's used to increase system performance and efficiency, lower operating and maintenance cost, and provide fail safe conditions.
